Rex (formerly Simon)

Update from his new home:

We renamed Simon. His new name is Rex! He is so happy and very intelligent!
He is already using the doggie door and has had no accidents. He is such a
playful little dog and very well behaved.

He is getting "sit" and "lay down".  We are working on "stay" and so far he is
doing wonderful.  Today he went to the groomer for a bath and the groomer
wanted to  keep him!  Rex and my other dog are getting a long well.  We are very
excited and happy to have him in our home and as part of our family.

Ryder has found his new home in Austin.
Bella (formerly Cinnamon)

Bella is a star !! - Tomorrow will be week 3 since we took her to ATA for initial physical for
heartworm -they said it would be about 3 weeks - they are swamped with heartworm
around - she is so affectionate -sometimes we get down on her bed with her and bunch
scatterd all over--- her poor little stuffed lamb has seen better days - every once in a
while we catch Rosie sneaking off with it - or trying to sneak - it is hard with that baa baa
baa going all through the house! All 3 dogs are in my office right now sleeping away ---
and did I mention she can SNORE !!!!
Hana (formerly Ebony)

Update from her new home:
I just wanted to send you a little update on Hana.  We had our first official "family hike"
together on Sunday...and it was fun.  I think I mentioned it to you on the phone earlier
in the week, but I wanted to make sure you got to see the photo.

Everyone is doing well and Hana is such a joy!  I believe she is still grieving her loss
of you and the pack, but I hope all our work with each other will soon make the
transition a successful one.  I know it is going to take time to anchor a real bond, and
we are all in this for the long haul.  ;o)
Hana looking so happy in her new home!
Zuri now lives with her foster family & her new buddies Banjo & Mollie.
Quiggly is adopted!

Radar

Update from Radar's new home:

Radar and I are having a blast together!  We've been jogging most mornings and playing
soccer/tennis at night.  To my utter amazement Radar can catch a soccer ball(youth
sized) in his mouth while running at full speed.  It is now our preferred way play.

We went to the vet the first week and got him up to date on all his shots/heart worm/flea
meds.  He and Ben are playing like buddies and everything is going smoothly.
Raina (formerly Celeste) has been adopted.

How cute is she?!?!?!

Happy 3rd week anniversary Raina (formerly Celeste)!  We renamed her Raina (meaning “wise guardian”
in German and “queen” in Spanish), which fits her to a T!  She is doing really well and has gained 3 lbs!
She loves to patrol her yard and enjoys running the fence line especially when the neighbors come by with
their horses.  She also enjoys trying to snag a squirrel or two!

She has bonded closely with Rick, but knows Robin is her mommy.  Each morning she either blocks
Robin from leaving to go to work or wraps her paws around Robin’s ankle, which looks like she’s saying
“mommy don’t go”.  She enjoys Sunday brunches because she gets her special treats and keeps us
entertained by throwing her squeaky balls around and catching them.  She is just too cute!  She’s curious
about the pool, but it’s just a bit too chilly for her to get in yet.

She seems to realize she’s now in her forever home and we are now working on her doggie manners.
She’s a quick study, so we don’t expect this to take very long.  Raina is such a character to watch…she
really is all personality and our little angel!

Brees reports from her new home:

Hello everybody I just had to tell you about the new collar and leash my new mommy gave me.
It is pink because I am a female. I go back to my new vet Dr. Joyner in about 2 – 3 weeks I think
I was told 13 August for my final heart worm checkup. My new parents got me flea stuff and
heart worm medicine. I also get some neat treats when I am good which is most of the time. I
get along with Lucky pretty good now and I try not to grab all the food. My dad tells me no bad
dog when I take more than my own. When I hear no bad dog I know that I no treats for me so I
like hearing good dog than I get treats. Well since I last wrote to you I have been training with a
leash on me but since I’ve been being good I don’t have to have the leash on me unless we
are going for a walk. I still get a squirt every now and again because I still think chasing
CopyKat is nifty. Truth be told I am kind of nervous  of her because I still haven’t figured her and
my space but I am learning. I am going to put a picture or two so you can see me and how big I
am. I weigh over 80 lbs. I am getting pretty tall too. Well I added more than two but I hope you
like them. My dad uses a telephone to take my pictures isn’t that silly you are supposed to use
a camera. Well I guess that is it for now I’ll write again another time okay. Bye talk to you later.

Kaiser (formerly Taiko)

Update from his adopter:
Just wanted to share this week’s happenings with you. Kaiser seems to be getting over his cough and is really
acting like a puppy. Running, jumping and pouncing, he is running around the place like a crazy man, jumping in
and out of the pool like he is in a competition to see how many times he can do it in 30 seconds and pouncing on
the grasshoppers after he has hunted them down. He is learning the routine of being brushed before the
morning walks. He no longer sleeps in the kennel last Saturday he started to sleep in the bedroom the kennel is
there however he just walks into it and then finds the memory mattress at the foot of our bed more comfortable.
And he is demanding more attention by the day he loves for you to get on the floor and play with him. Lastly I think
he has gained more weight he is eating about five cups of food a day we feed him twice a day. I was going to
send pictures however I didn’t get them down loaded from the camera I will work on that for the next update. Have
a great day!!

Jack (formerly Marco)

Update from his new home:
Just thought I'd send you an update on Jack.  He is doing incredibly well considering his young
age and has firmly integrated himself into the family.  At first he didn't want to go outside alone.  I
think he was frightened that we would leave him.  Now he he goes out readily to potty, splashes in
his pool, and sometimes chooses to stay out for a while.  He knows that when he comes to the
door he will be let back in.  The one thing we wish is that he would relax a little more around here.
Just kidding.
Beau (formerly Zulu)

Update from his new home:

Our Beau is doing so well, progressing all the time into the family.  He has now taken over
monitoring Sugar's outside activities.  He usually finishes his business first and then he just
sits down in the shade and watches her til she is done then they come back in together.  It is
cute, but sad that his only current friend is a termite.

I got your package today, you are too funny.  My daughter, her husband and the baby came for
dinner tonite and we were all sitting outside before they left and he was sitting there with us.
My grandson just loves him and hugs him continually, and tonight Beau licked his face, so
Marek was in seventh heaven.  He went up to everyone wagging his tail, and just was so
relaxed like this was an everyday occcurance.  He never seems bothered by being outside,
just sits there staring around at everything.

Mia is going to be a good teacher about the cat.  When I was bringing Beau back in, he saw
the cat and walked over to him I think just to smell, but Mia didn't like that as Ozzie is her best
bud so she growled and snapped at him and he backed off.  The funny part was, Mia walks
over to Ozzie, smells him all over to make sure he is alright, then starts licking his face.  It was
hysterical, as though he was her baby and Ozzie was just laying there eating it up.  But she
herself has play-attacked him as though she were going to kill him, but never leaves a mark
on him. Just grabs him with her paws and pins him down.  Really strange, like siblings I think
"I'm the only one that can beat him up, not a stranger".

He is in a routine now, I gave him a rawhide today because he was a little more demanding in
the attention department then yesterday.  I was worried about how Sugar would be treated if
she approached, but he just moved her away with his nose when she tried to lick the bone.  So
now she stays away from him when he is eating it. but he never growled or acted possessive.
He is actually even more mellow than Whisper was with her and more patient.  I have been
leaving them alone in my room when I am going back in forth outside and they will both sit at
the baby gate and watch and wait.  Too cute.

Yes he is just perfect!!  Everyone in my immediate family that has met him is in love with him.
Hoping all is well with you.

Sachi (formerly Prada)

An update from her home:
In reviewing Prada's paperwork we saw that her name used to be Sachi so we went back to that.    We have a love for Japanese
culture and Mikela is fluent and we thought that this name fit her well.   It means child of joy.

A joy she is.    We have gotten her on a routine of long walks morning and night and a short walk (being about a mile) in the
afternoon.   We also play with the hose in the backyard and we have been working daily
on her manners.   She has come a long way since Wednesday.

She has met her brother cats and we are still working on harmony in the house.   But I think everyone will adjust just fine.  Here
are a few pictures from our past few days.   We had our first bath at dirty dog and you'll notice a theme of sleeping as she adjusts
to all this walking.   We notice her stamina picking up over the weekend.  We adore her and thank you so much for the opportunity
to meet this lovely lady and bring her into our home.
