SUCCESS STORIES - 2004
Here's why we do what we do.
The dogs on this page found happy, loving homes in 2004

Stephen (formerly Luke) and Sophia (formerly
Myra) - were two of the three pups rescued from
Houston.  Their sister, Leah was adopted by her
foster mom (see Success stories 2003).  Steffen
and Sophia have a wonderful with a nice family
in Bryan.

Update from adopters:
They're doing just fine. They love the
big yard and Myra is just muddy from
head to foot. I don't know how she does it, the other dogs aren't
near as muddy. They sleep in my parents room and they love to
nap under the kitchen table. We were all surprised at how smart
and good they are. They barked at  the cats at first but they
allready know they're not supposed to. I just  picked up flee
drops and heart worm pills. When did you say they were due? I
don't know if it's time for them yet or not. Our older dog seems to
like them a lot, he's about their size or smaller, but Cierra the
bigger one is not sure yet, but she's warming up. The funniest
thing was when they learned  to go up and down the stairs. They
followed my dad up the stairs after trying it a few times and then
they were too afraid to climb back down. So they sat at the top
crying until Myra was brave enough to try it. Luka won't try
anything till Myra does. He's such a baby. We're very happy with
them and confident that they will make a perfect addition to our
family. Thank you so much for you're kindness and I hope you
are also confident that you made the right choice for them.
Thanks again,
Tori -  was literally on the brink of death when
she was rescued.  She had been almost starved.
She was so emaciated she couldn't walk and
was so anemic, she required blood transfusions.
She was fostered and turned into a sweet,
gentle, beautiful girl  who loves other dogs and is
wonderful with kids.  Her adopted family adore
her.

Update  from Tori's new family dated Feb. 20, 2005:
As expected, Tori did beautifully. We took both dogs for a
walk last evening before bedtime. That exhausted them both
(and us). Rudy and Tori walked side by side--which is a big
accomplishment since they are both large, strong dogs.

She has taken her chosen spot in the house on the rug by the
front door. She can see everything that goes on in the house
from there. She didn't eat all of her food yesterday, but given
her new surroundings I wasn't surprised.

We just came back from another walk a moment ago. Tori
has decided to eat her food now and gave Rudy the message
that her bowl was hers--not his. They are doing well together
and I can see Tori is feeling more comfortable with our family
today.

We'll keep you posted on her progress with us. In the
meantime, I want you to know how grateful we are for the
opportunity to adopt her. We are all very pleased with her.
Thanks again.

Update February 21, 2005:Last night went well again.
After our morning walk today, both Tori and Rudy were
exhausted. This afternoon, Tori got to meet some of the
neighbors dogs while on our walk. Layla, is a blonde lab
three doors down and they got along just fine. Blue, a big
black lab two doors down the other direction, found Tori
interesting. Everyone just loves Tori and her sweet
personality. The only difficult thing is trying to walk the two
dogs without getting their leashes tangled. It's pretty comical
to watch.

She is definitely feeling at home and is pretty much ruling
Rudy. Her apprehension of being brushed will soon be a
thing of the past. She allowed Brielle to brush her today
without looking scared or running away.  She's such a special
girl. We'll update you soon!
