Alta (formerly Angie)
Here is a report from her new Mom:
Angie is a wonderful fit into our home. She's so easy going, slept great all night in her crate,
loves being with the kids, and is totally content to lay around and sleep with other things going
on around her.
Update: From Alta's guardian, August 4, 2004, writes: [Beverly] I wanted to give you an update on
Alta (Angie-photo to left). She's doing great and continues to be an awesome dog. The kids call
her "Miss Mellow" and everyone that meets her, including our vet, comments on how relaxed
she is.
Baron
Brandy
Brandy was pulled from Town Lake shortly before her time was up. She is doing very well, and is very
happy with her new family and new doggy buddy.
Chester (formerly Jake)
This lucky boy just barely escaped a death sentence and is now living the good life in a home where he gets
round the clock attention. He has an active family (which he needs because he is a bundle of energy!) who were
very excited to bring him into to their home and give him the love and care he deserves.
Clark
Clark, Heath and Andy were abandoned by their owner. Clark got adopted first by a
family in South Austin who loved him very much. Sadly after several months he became ill, and despite heroic
efforts to save him, he passed away. His adopted parents grieved for him and when they were ready to adopt
again, they adopted his brother Heath who was still in rescue. For more on Heath, see Success Stories, 2005.
Duncan
This pup was adopted by a family with a child and is doing great.

Dylan (formerly Patton)
Dylan's adopter writes: He is the most precious thing. When I call him my "little boy", he closes his
eyes and nuzzles his head as far into my lap as he can. When I scold him for something, he comes
right to my side and sits there until I am through reading him the riot act. He knows how to open all of
my kitchen cabinets and searches the refrigerator when I open the door to get something out. So far
he has been successful at filling his tummy with two steaks, ready for the grill; a bowl of red beans
and a birthday cake. Not bad! He knows what is his to play with and what is off limits. He loves to run
up and down the stairs with the toys, knowing that Savannah can't make it up there to retrieve them
when he snatches them away from her. He has definitely found a friend in Savannah. She puts up
with so much from him. But when she has had enough, she lets him have it. That's when he comes
running to me for comfort.I can't tell you how much I have fallen in love with this little (big) guy.

Emma is a sweet girl who's living it up in her new home. Here's another note from her new
Dad: doing very well. She is very energetic and will play fetch for hours. It is even better if she
can fetch something in the water as she goes swimming almost every day. We It has almost
been a year since we got Emma. She is have decided that she is the personification of
playfulness. She continues to do well with the other animals and is quite the watchdog-bark
only, no biting!
Foxie (formerly Theona)
Foxie's foster parents totally adore her. She sleeps with them and
goes boating with them. As you can see from the pictures, they are inseparable. Here's a note
from Mom: Our Baby is doing great. Attached are pictures taken on the pontoon boat taken
yesterday. Foxie acted like she has been boating many times. I think she enjoyed it and was
relaxed because she even napped from time to time. She has fit in perfectly with all of us, even
the cats.
Haley (formerly Bailey)
son. After a small bout with bronchitis and a tennis shoe or two (not from the same pair
either) all have come to an understanding and are living life as a family. Haley gets to
share her new momma's bed and is loving every minute of it.
Hope
Hope was adopted by the people who adopted Jake (formerly Rommel). Hope
and her new big brother are getting along great. Jake is showing her the ropes
and how to use the doggy door.
This beautiful girl, along with her 10 year
old male GSD house mate, was dropped off at a
kill-shelter on Christmas Eve. She was pretty stressed out when she came to her foster home. One day, she
figured out the lock on the gate, and when her foster mom came home - Kira was gone! Luckily, she was found
the next day - turns out she had just gone down the road to the neighbors house and had spent the night in his
bed. A long time volunteer and friend of GSD Rescue fell in love with her. Kira has found a new happy life with
two other GSDs (see Success Stories 2001) and her new human who gives her lots of love and attention and
treats her like the princess she is.
Lacy
Lacy is living happily in Cedar Park with her mom.
Leah
Leah was adopted by her foster parents who already had three white GSDs - all rescues.
Leah, was one of the three puppies rescued from Houston. Of the three, Leah needed the most
socialization. She was timid around people, but really came out of her shell around the other
three big dogs and in a store full of people coming and going all the time. In the process, her
foster family fell in love with her and couldn't bear to give her up.
Lola (formerly Farah)
Lola is one lucky dog. She was adopted by a lady who drove six hours just to see her. Her new Mom
adores her and plans to take her to work. Here is an update from her new home: Just wanted to let you
know how Lola's first night home alone went. I got home from work she was fine. House was fine. She
mastered the doggy door today, so she is in heaven... I took her on her first walk around the block this
morning, did real well, She pulled some, once I got her in the sit position and went into a heel she did a
lot better. It won't take her long to remember the training....Thanks again for Lola, she is the best. This
doggy door and her are a riot... she'll go in and out about 4-5 times in a row, it's a game to her. She
thinks she's "all that" and she is.
Athena (formerly Lindsey)
Athena was rescued from Town Lake Animal Shelter. She was adopted by a couple when she
play with.
Liberty (Patton's sister)
This sweet pup has found her new home.

Stephen (formerly Luke) and Sophia (formerly Myra)
These were two of the three pups rescued from Houston. Their sister, Leah was adopted by
her foster mom (see Success stories 2003). Steffen and Sophia have a wonderful with a
nice family in Bryan.
Update from adopters: They're doing just fine. They love the big yard and Myra is just muddy
from head to foot. I don't know how she does it, the other dogs aren't near as muddy. They
sleep in my parents room and they love to nap under the kitchen table. We were all surprised
at how smart and good they are. They barked at the cats at first but they allready know they're
not supposed to. I just picked up flee drops and heart worm pills. When did you say they
were due? I don't know if it's time for them yet or not. Our older dog seems to like them a lot,
he's about their size or smaller, but Cierra the bigger one is not sure yet, but she's warming
my dad up the stairs after trying it a few times and then they were too afraid to climb back
down. So they sat at the top crying until Myra was brave enough to try it. Luka won't try anything
till Myra does. He's such a baby. We're very happy with them and confident that they will make
a perfect addition to our family. Thank you so much for you're kindness and I hope you are
also confident that you made the right choice for them.
Thanks again!

Tori
She literally on the brink of death when she was rescued. She had been almost starved. She was so emaciated
she couldn't walk and was so anemic, she required blood transfusions. She was fostered and turned into a sweet,
gentle, beautiful girl who loves other dogs and is wonderful with kids. Her adopted family adore her.
2005: As expected, Tori did beautifully. We took both dogs for a walk last evening before bedtime. That exhausted
them both (and us). Rudy and Tori walked side by side--which is a big accomplishment since they are both large,
strong dogs. She has taken her chosen spot in the house on the rug by the front door. She can see everything that
goes on in the house from there. She didn't eat all of her food yesterday, but given her new surroundings I wasn't
surprised. We just came back from another walk a moment ago. Tori has decided to eat her food now and gave
Rudy the message that her bowl was hers--not his. They are doing well together and I can see Tori is feeling more
comfortable with our family today. I want you to know how grateful we are for the opportunity to adopt her. We are all
very pleased with her. Thanks again.

Terra and Mae
Terra is a beautiful, pure-bred who was adopted by a very nice man. While he was getting to know Terra, he
met one of Terra's foster sisters, Mae. Because of Mae's wonderful personality he decided to foster her, and
several months later decided to also adopt her. .Now Terra Lynn and Mae Belle (new middle names from
their new Daddy's niece) have a wonderful home together. Mae is the "cuddle dog"
lounging on the bed, always wanting to have her tummy petted while Terra is "protector" - affectionate and with
a job to do. Every night she checks out each window to make sure all is well before settling in to bed.
Mandy
She was found at Fort Hood running loose on the base. She is doing great and has
settled into her new home and is learning to live with the
cat.
Nelson
This boy had a rough start in life. He was very afraid of humans but never showed aggression nor
attempted to bite anyone. He made major progress while in rescue and now is in a home where he
adores his foster Mom and continues to become more and more outgoing.

Owen
Here is part of a letter from his new Mom: I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you
know that the children and I are so happy with Owen and he seems very happy with us. He's
getting settled in with us and is doing great! He hasn't had any accidents in the house and just
loves to run around the yard with my son. He wakes my daughter up in the morning by
jumping on her bed and licking her. Sunday night he fell asleep on the couch and I went to
bed. He woke me up at midnight whining so now he sleeps on my bed at the foot of it. Last night
he slept through the whole night with me. He is eating good and loves to run in the utility room
and steal socks from my laundry basket. We just love him and are grateful for letting us adopt him!
... Owen is exactly the dog I had hoped to get. Thank you very much.

This pup was pulled from a kill shelter. At first she had a problem with submissive peeing and an
overly rambucncious nature. She blossomed into a loving companion. Sally has been adopted by
a loving family in San Antonio and Is very happy. Miss Sally goes everywhere with her new dad
and the whole family is delighted with her love of play and adventure.
Sasha and Ben
These two pups met here in rescue and became good play buddies. They got lucky
and were adopted together.
Zoe - (Formerly Sonar)
She was chosen far sooner than her foster mom could have anticipated! A woman in Austin
insisted that she was an exact replica of her pet that her ex-husband won custody of in divorce
court. Sonar, a sad and despondent little girl from TLAC, helped fill someones void and made
lifelong friends too!
Update January, 2006: our dog 'Sonar" now, "Zoe" is doing great. She took training last spring
and walks great on a leash. We love her a lot and appreciate you rescuing her from the pound. She
is about 50 lbs and pretty full size, although skinny. She gets along with my old dog fine now.....
Phoenix
Phoenix has found his home with his foster mom. What a lucky boy.

Kobi
Kobi has been adopted by a family from Pflugerville. October 10, 2006. Here is an update from his adopters:
"His name is Sammie now, and he is adjusted and very happy. He even knows what time my son comes in
from playing outside because they wrestle every evening and he has his head stuck through the blinds
looking for him."
Chopper
.
Brandy
Asta
This lucky girl found the kind of home we hope all our pups find. She has a new playmate to keep her company!

Blaze and Fritz (formerly Billy)
October 15, 2006. Here is an update from their adopters:
"Blaze is settling in nicely. He's very calm and just likes to relax next to me in my office. He also might be
simply waiting for his next walk (and being very polite). He is a great home protector. This morning,
early-early, I let them both out to pee and Blaze noticed something not-quite-right. He bellowed his most
protective, impressive GSD bark before going to investigate.
As I write, Blaze is sleeping next to my chair. My computer lab is his new 'den' (we share). In just one
night there has been an amazing change in temperament! He's learned to just sit next to me and calmly
enjoy our company. I'm a little worried about my office-chair rolling over feet and he doesn't like me
pulling him out a safe distance.
Fritz is still very much a puppy - deceiving, given his size, but it's easy to forget he's so young. He's still a
little spooked in our back yard and he cries a little. Blaze helps lead Fritz around and both stay glued
together whenever there's exploration work to do around the house and yard. Fritz is happy just laying
next to Barbara and getting his snuggles. One gaze into his eyes and we drop whatever we're doing and
spend the next several minutes scratching his belly while repeating the mantra, 'you're such a sweet
dog.'
Thanks again for finding these wonderful dogs and allowing us their company."
Miles
Update:
They were eight weeks old. GSD got them out of there four days later and they went
to live at the rescue group. When there, even though he has no Shepherd in him;
Bev had taken him in due to his dire straits. Moki, who went by the name of Ricky at
that time, was just under a year old, and just too sweet and gentle for his own good,
because he started to get beat up by some of the other males. So, in October 2004
Moki (Ricky) went to a foster placement, just 2-3 months after Miles had joined the
pack. Moki (Ricky) stayed at the foster placement until we saw his picture on
GSD's website in May of 2005, when he was about one year and eight months old.
We adopted him the day we met him, and he and Sadie, our 11 year old (at that
time) Dobie/Dalmation have become On July 30, 2004, Miles and his sister Myra
were left at TLAC. devoted companions. Fast forward a year to July 30, 2006, when
Miles came to live with us as a foster dog, exactly two years to the day that he had
been left at TLAC! Now just a little over two years old, he was also getting beat up
by the other males for being too sweet and handsome. Miles is also very shy,
especially around men. They probably didn't know each other too well when they
were at GSD together, since Bev would have kept Miles with the puppies, but it sure
didn't take Miles and Moki Joe very long to bond once Miles got to our house. They
are kindred spirits, both so gorgeous and gentle.... well, except when it comes to
squirrels, and then they're the dynamic duo! After a few months we decided to adopt
Miles, in October 2006. In the second photo, Moki Joe (who is now 3 years old) and
Miles (now 2 1/2 years old) are being petted and praised by my husband. Yes!!!
After being so fearful of men, it is a man that Miles is looking up at with those
adoring eyes!

Jadis (formerly Mindy)
November 27, 2006. Here is an update from her adopters: "Jadis is doing really well in her new home in
San Antonio. She gets along great with my cocker spaniel. The two dogs run around and play together
all day. Jadis has also done very well with my young niece and nephew. She is very affectionate and very
friendly. Jadis has been a great addition to my home!"

Chief
This handsome boy has been adopted after a year and a half in his foster home. This great guy landed with a
fantastic family. Here is a picture of Chief in his new home.
Daisy formerly Dixie
January 7, 2007 "Happy New Year. I just wanted to drop you a quick note about Daisy (who used to be
called Dixie). She was pretty quiet and would not eat for the first two days. It is an understatement to say
she is now out of her shell and in full puppy mode. She is a great eater (puppy food and remote controls),
she loves walks (good for me too!) and is very affectionate. Karen says she is in great shape and I am lucky
to know so much of her medical history. Thank you for taking such good care of her.
