Casey and Gracie

Casey was a puppy that came from San Angelo who had been in rescue for a long time.  She had a cauliflower
ear - it had been injured and had never healed, but she was the perfect dog for Sherrie who was looking for a dog
that would be protective but good with people.   Several years later Sherrie and Robert found Gracie.  They traveled
to Germany and are now therapy dogs and cheer up the soldiers coming back from Iraq.   The picture to the left
came to us titled "Comrade Gracie and Major Casey at the Kitchen Peace Talks" Here's a note from Sherrie:
Casey and Gracie are doing very well.  We volunteer occasionally at the hospital visiting some of the injured
soldiers and stopped in at Landstuhl Hospital on Christmas Day.  The dogs' visits lifted a lot of spirits.  Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year. God Bless our German Shepherd Dogs!
Samson

Samson was adopted by a friend of Rescue in Central Texas. He is now part of a large menagerie of pets at her home.

Barclay

Barclay had only a few more minutes to live when we rescued him from the shelter. He came to us
without knowing the joys of playing with toys or other puppy stuff. His personality quickly came out,
and he became a lively, affectionate boy. Barclay now lives with his new family in Central Texas.

Bentley is one of the coolest dogs we've ever had in rescue. He was with us for over a year before finding a family who really
appreciates his laid back attitude. We know he is very loved and cared for in his new home.
Emma

Emma was a scared, sick little puppy when she came to us from the shelter. Over the next few days, her cold
cleared up, and we discovered her love of other dogs. She loves to romp and play, and be cuddled by her
people. She went to live with a fireman and his wife, and her new friend, a little black Pomeranian named Cole.
Kayla
Toys used to be Kayla's favorite things - now her favorites are Megan and Hannah, her two girls. Kayla was with us for
over a year, and is now happily in her new home. Her love of children and her gentle nature are rewarded with lots of
tender grooming and primping from Megan, and squeals from Hannah.   Her siblings Lynwood and Cheyenne were
also adopted from us in 2001.

Rain

Rain was destined to be destroyed at the shelter when we swooped in to rescue her. Before we could even have
her spayed and get her out, though, we got a call from a lady  who wanted to adopt her. Rain went directly from the
shelter to her new home, and is now enjoying the good life with the lady's Jack Russell Terrier.
Senta

Senta is a sweet, good-natured girl. She was rescued from the shelter after being turned in by her previous owners.
Although, with her wonderful personality and striking looks, it's hard to understand how anyone would give her up.  She was
adopted by a very nice lady who previously adopted a GSD  mix from our group.  Now Senta has an adopted brother to play
with, and a very caring adopted mother to care for her.
Taz

Taz is an exuberant little girl, who loves people, and gives great stand-up hugs. She has found a wonderful home with
a very nice man in Austin, who pampers and spoils her as much as she likes. Taz is glad to be an inside dog, and to
have someone all to herself to love.
Zoe

Zoe was one of six puppies we rescued from starvation from a ranch in Bastrop County.  (see 2001 Success
Stories to read about their mom Natasha).  Zoe was the 'runt' of the litter and had a few more challenges than
the other puppies. She was so tiny, and it took her a while to recover from her ordeal. Zoe recovered
beautifully to become a sweet, loving little puppy. She can't get enough of being held and loved, and she is
getting plenty of attention in her new home. She has a built-in doggy pal, Duke, and loves to go in and out of
the cat door
Bear

Bear, one of the Bastrop Bunch puppies, was adopted by a family in Georgetown. The kids took to him right
away, and their little girl calls him "Little Bear" after one of her favorite stories. Sam the dog also liked Bear
from the start, and "mothers" him, following him around the yard and leaving kisses on his head.
Scout

A friend of ours just recently adopted Lizzie from you (see Success stories 2005).  We
had recommended your rescue group to her because of our success with Scout.  My
Husband and I adopted Scout Sept. 2002.  At the time he was 6 months old.  Since then
we could not imagine our family with out him.  He has one sister, a beagle named
Abbie, and they hit it off right away.  We found that Scout was very good at "corralling" the
beagle and keeping her in line.  He is the most loving dog I have ever meet, he is a true
snuggle lush.  He is very intelligent and has picked up everything we have taught him.
He knows his basic commands (sit, lay, speak) in sign language and in German!
Everyday we think to ourselves...who in their right mind would of abandoned this guy?
Scout and Abbie have a large back yard with a doggie door so they run in and out of the
house as they please.  They will lay out and sun until they get too hot and come in and
fall asleep on the cool kitchen tile.  We come home everyday for lunch to eat with them,
and almost every night we take a long walk together in the piney woods here in Bastrop.
Scouts hobbies include camping, taunting his sister with squeaky toys, sneaking on the
bed in the middle of the night, and giving kisses.  One day we hope to rescue another
dog from you, or maybe even become a foster family.  I would and did recommend you
for anyone wishing to add joy to their lives with a dog.  Thank you for everything you do,
you are a true hero, and you helped complete our family.
MoJo (left) was the biggest of the Bastrop Bunch of puppies, so he
needed a special home - and he got one. His family wanted a dog
that would be BIG, and MoJo definitely fits the bill. He is ready to
romp and play with his two girls, and be loved on by the whole family.
He even likes the cat!
