Alex and Hansi were adopted by Jennifer and Rick, a couple in
Austin, Texas. Jennifer's brother, Andy, adopted Timex and Brady
(Success Stories - through 2000), and she fell so in love with them
that she decided to bring home two of her own. They absolutely
adore these two beautiful boys, and continue to stay in contact with
Rescue.
Bear - This is how Bear looked when she was returned to German
Shepherd Rescue Central Texas in spring, 2001. Bear had been
adopted from us in 1999 by a mom and son.  Subsequently, their
family had expanded, and due to the changes, Bear went from an
inside family dog, to being penned in a small area of the back yard.
When she was returned to us, her lush coat was dirty and matted,
her ears were bitten raw by flies, and she was a sad sight. We
shaved Bear down and cleaned her up, took her to adoption days
to play with kids, and brought her back to her old self again. In
October, she caught the eye of a young couple during an adoption
day. Bear now lives with them, and her new best friend, a little white
Maltese.
Rocket - Rocket (formerly Roxy) was adopted by a nice couple in
Oak Hill. She has a big backyard to play in, and loves to run and
"play chase." She was a little sad after leaving her sister, Sassy, but
has bonded with her new family. She still sleeps a lot, but loves to
go on early morning walks. Her owners say that they "adopted a
dog, but got an angel!"
Sassy - The same weekend Rocket went to her new place, Sassy
was adopted as well. She is currently making herself at home in
Corpus Christi, Texas with a very nice family.
Ellie (formerly Tilly) - Ellie was adopted by a member of our group
and is living with Gretal and Kira.   Gretal was heart worm positive
when she was adopted years ago, but now is doing great is the
most protective of the three.  Ellie is the playful one and Kira is the
"princess" of the house.  See more about Kira in 2003.
Duchess - Duchess is enjoying the benefits of "networking". Her
previous owners called us from San Antonio to find Duchess a new
home - which we did. Duchess now lives in Austin with a wonderful
lady and a new dog friend as well.
Lynwood and Cheyenne - Lynwood (formerly Buster) and
Cheyenne (formerly Millie) went to live with two very nice people
who indulge Lynwood and Cheyenne as if they were their children.
Lynwood hangs out and watches football with dad, or plays with
Cheyenne in the sandbox Dad built in the back yard.
Natasha (formerly Lily) came to us from Bastrop starving and tired,
having recently given birth to 7 puppies who became known as the
"Bastrop Bunch".   She quickly recovered, and became a playful,
sweet dog. She now lives in Austin with a young couple and their
two little girls.  One of the girls was named Lily, so the they changed
Lily the dog's name to Natasha.  She's a great dog and wonderful
with the children.   See 2002 for adoption stories about her
puppies.  Below is an update from her adopted mom:

She's still the sweetest dog in the world. Our 2 1/2 year old loves Tasha and
shows her affection the way two year olds do bear hugs and ear tugs. Natasha
isn't the least bit phased by Lily's rough play. She responds with kisses, which
sends Lily into giggling fits. When Natasha first came to us, she spent a lot of
time inside. Now she's almost always outside, except in the summer when
she likes to come in to cool off. She usually has a lot of company out in the
yard, though. As well as having our two girls to play with, we take care of a little
boy during the week. We will probably be looking for a doggie companion for
Natasha sometime in the next year. She's very social, and I know she'd love to
have a permanent canine sister. In the meantime, we arrange play dates and
baby-sit our friends' dogs when we can. It's hard to believe that Tasha was
once half starved and afraid of people. She's now about 60 pounds (she
actually had to lose 5 pounds this last year!) and so friendly.
King (formerly Andrew) - You could call King's family "repeat
customers". King, was a joy to have around, and was adopted
rather quickly. Raven, the beautiful black shepherd came from us
as well. She, King, and their other shepherd pal Queen make quite
a striking group.
Tess and Jonah (formerly Tahoe) - Tess and Jonah are Anatolian
Shepherds, who were rescued outside Town Lake Animal Center.
Jonah was adopted, and his new mommy became Tess' foster mom.
It wasn't long before Tess became a permanent family member, so
she and Jonah will always be together.
Brutus - Sweet Brutus was adopted by a friend of Rescue. He
instantly bonded to her, and now accompanies her to work every
day. He is very happy having someone all to himself.
Gypsy - Gypsy is a cuddle-bug of a dog, adopted by a nice family in
Austin. We saw her recently, and she looks healthy and happy.
Here's why we do what we do.
The dogs on this page found happy, loving homes in 2001.
