My name is Obie. I am big and beautiful, and I am begging you to help
me. In the late summer of 2006, I was found wandering in a field after
having been attacked by other dogs. My overall condition was pathetic.
I was so malnourished (now I am 80 pounds!) that every rib showed,
and I was full of heartworms, infested with mange and fleas, and had
ears so badly damaged from infections that they will never stand up (to
make me even more handsome!).
Now it is early 2008 and my physical health is great. But let me tell you,
I have been through six surgeries and more medicines than I can count.
The amazing thing is that with all the treatments, I remain the most
loving and gentle dog you could meet. I was lucky enough to be
admitted to the Homeless Pet Placement League's rehabilitation
program and many, many people have contributed to my costly care
But the one thing I am desperate for is a HOME. Can you believe that I
have lived at the veterinary hospital where I get my care for going on
one year! Someone actually adopted me for a few months, but due to
my separation anxiety brought me back. It's true that when you live in a
place for a very long time and get used to people being around you for
most of the day and evening, you get a little nervous when you are all
alone. But this issue has many ways of being resolved and so I know I
can be someone's perfect guy with special effort and affection.
So back to the begging: could you give me a loving, permanent home
please or a foster home please or just donate to my huge bills? I know
I am worth it!
Please contact HPPL at 713-862-7387 if you hear my plea.
Being a kid, I need lots of "work." But I am really smart and have a
wonderful disposition so will reward your working with me with love and
affection. Puppies enjoy being with other dogs or children who will play
with them and I think either in my life would be fine. If you have time for
an outgoing, friendly, rowdy girl who has to learn some more manners,
I am the youngster for you. My estimated adult weight is 40 lbs. Please
come meet me at the South Shepherd PETCO. My edob is 6/07.
Please contact HPPL at 713-862-7387 if you hear my plea.

Bunnie ~ A shepherd/terrier/rott mix? but what a deer (OK dear).
She has had two litters, is heartworm positive and is now in
treatment and recovery for both. But what a gentle soul. She
wants to be with humans, is easy to walk and has not let her past
experiences get her down. Bunnie just spent 3 days at the vet
clinic and they did not want to see her go! Bunnie will complete
her treatment in early May.

Butterfly is at 10 month old GS mix found by a good
samaritan while she was wandering the streets. She was
named "Butterfly" because of the whilte buttefly pattern on
her chest. But Butterfly also fits because when she plays in
the dog park she is like a graceful butterfly as she flies
through the air! But then again, while at an adoption
event, one of the folks looking at the dogs said "I thought
she was named Butterfly because she is so friendly" ~ a
social Butterfly!!! Whatever reason you prefer this one is
a great dog. Friendly with all dogs and humans ~ and not
overpowering for the kiddos.
